Let us count our days

תְּפִלָּה לְמֹשֶׁה אִישׁ הָאֱלֹהִים

A Prayer of Moshe the man of GOD.

Psalm 90:1


A man of GOD. What a beautiful intrοduction! To be called a man or woman of GOD.

This man wrote:

אֲדֹנָי מָעוֹן אַתָּה הָיִיתָ לָּנוּ בְּדֹר וָדֹר בְּטֶרֶם הָרִים יֻלָּדוּ וַתְּחוֹלֵל אֶרֶץ וְתֵבֵל וּמֵעוֹלָם עַד עוֹלָם אַתָּה אֵל

Lord, Thou hast been our dwelling-place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever Thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, Thou art God.

GOD is before anything else existed. What a thought.

Time is on the Almighty's hands; thousands of years is like a day that just became yesterday.

Humans on the other hand are fragile beings. Like a vapour, temporary and brief is our existence.

Therefore (verse 12):

לִמְנוֹת יָמֵינוּ כֵּן הוֹדַע    וְנָבִא לְבַב חָכְמָה

So teach us to number our days, that we may get us a heart of wisdom.

Let us count our days in such a way that we gain wisdom. Let us live wisely so we may be called a woman or a man of GOD.
